We determined and implemented the tenants’ fit-out requirements on the £110m business park development to enable strategic closures of existing BAe production facilities.
Farnborough Aerospace Centre is one of the premier business parks in the South, providing a dynamic working environment to a wide range of international companies, including BAE Systems, Zurich Insurance and Lockheed Martin. With nine buildings, providing over 1,000,000sq.ft of office accommodation, it was the largest Design & Build contract in Europe at the time of its construction with a contract value of £110m.
On behalf of the developer, and in collaboration with the other senior project manager, our role was to direct and manage the tenant’s fit out requirements, such that BAe as the principal occupier could undertake a rationalisation programme of their regional production plants.
We consulted with stakeholders and end-user groups and determined their requirements; established and led a discrete multi-disciplinary project team in the preparation of designs and specifications; and instructed and managed the main contractor in the construction fit-out works.
Fitting out was successfully completed to the offices and support facilities within budget and schedule to enable BAe to implement the phased rationalisation of their existing plants.
